THIRFTING: 1970s bowl and plate the universe insisted I have

I have never broken anything in the thrift store. Not once. Despite being pretty clumsy.

Until the other day.

I was admiring a cute ceramic lidded bowl with a brown 1970s style pattern and was only mildly impressed. It wasn’t on sale, it had a lid which I usually avoid because I forget what I put in lidded things… it just wasn’t for me.

As I went to put it back, the lid slid off the top of it. I tried to catch it, but my other hand was holding something breakable, so the lid had to just fall to the floor and break. Being the good thrifter I try to be, I bought the bowl.

After a couple days, that little bowl was starting to grow on me, but I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it.

Then I went thrifting again - to another Goodwill about 10 miles from my house; one I haven’t been in for a long time and noticed a familiar pattern…

Could it be? A matching plate for my little, hobbled bowl? I scooped up the plate and Brough it home to meet its buddy.

Now I’m pretty delighted that I got saddled with that little bowl. That’s some thrifting magic, I think!

I think I may put these in my bathroom when I do the 1970s-inspired makeover I want to do on it. What do you think?
